ACTION NAME: Activities related to the Red Cross at RKNUWC
DESCRIPTION
1. Follow up the Outline Agreement through the established Contact Group, which involves both the Norwegian RC and Sogn & Fjordane RC.
2. Define clearly the role of the Red Cross coordinator at the college to prevent duplication of work and conflicts planning.
3. Ensuring that the Red Cross Diploma has a central place in the Extra Academic Program, as a means of ensuring that our students gain knowledge and skills related to the Red Cross and that they receive a formal recognition of this.
4. Carry out recruitment of land mine victims as students together with the Norwegian Red Cross and Haugland Rehabilitation.
5. Continue to develop links with local hjelpekorps.
MEASURABLE GOALS
1. Develop Red Cross Youth and a Red Cross umbrella group on campus to provide support for activities related to the Red Cross principles.
Offer local schools first aid training, perhaps utilizing the “Young First Aider” program from St. John Ambulance.
Offer the “Raw War” game to local schools.
2. Prepare and agree a job description. Appoint a staff member internally
3. Further develop the plan for running “På Flukt” together with the Norwegian Red Cross and the County office in Førde, possibly using the house and facilities at Heggness into use.
4. Establish selection teams. Selection of candidates for college scholarships. Raise funding for rehab costs.
5. Develop a preliminary training course at the college for students who then attend the Hjelpekorps Grunnkurs at Nesholmen.

4. Places reserved at RCNUWC Sept 2010. Teams established Jan 2011. Selection by April 2011. Enter college August 2011.

RELEVANT FOR:
Engage with selected organizations whose aims and activities are consistent with the three pillars of RCNUWC.
To consolidate and extend RCNUWC’s reach
STATUS: March 2011: Items 1,2,3,5 progressing well and all in place. Red Cross Norway have decided that the partnership agreement is working well and see no need for new evaluation in the immediate future.
4 Funding has been secured to enable cooperation with RKHR. One student from Ethiopia already recruited.
A second student was recruited from Nicaragua.
Both are functioning well in Sept 2011.
Volunteer Gianni found to give daily support in labs and in classrooms as well as with personal matters.
Additional students from the First Aid group participated in the National Campionships in Førde Sept 2011.
The competing team came 6th out of 15 teams. The students were praised for their acting abilities as casualties. One students winning a prize as the best and most realistic casualty
.
Spring term 2012 The college has been invited to join the Askvoll Hjelpe Korps.
